Fatal error in the skirt . . . I was about 60% done with the skirt on Beatle's dress. I was thinking that I could be finished in the next few days. Just one more lace repeat and then the final design: something like 30 rounds, tops.
It all had to come out. When I began the skirt, I was thinking that the lace pattern should follow a few rounds of stockinette. I couldn't find that in the pattern, so I forged on. After one lace repeat (10 rounds), the skirt didn't hang right, so I checked the pattern again. Nothing. In the second lace pattern, I made a small error, but not enough to frog, so I continued. I checked the pattern again to be sure that I hadn't missed something.
After finishing the third repeat, it really did not look right. This was the kind of thing that I have to rectify. I do let some small things go, but this was not one of those. And this time when I checked my pattern, I found it: Knit 5 rounds in st st. It was below some alternative directions for a fuller skirt--ones I did not do. It was at the very bottom of the page. Ugh.
Out came the whole skirt.
The good news is that it's back on the needles already. Frogging will also make the dress right, and I'm positive it will look a lot better. I'm also pretty sure I can knock it out in a week--I'll get it done for Easter. But that's all I'll be knitting this week!
Good thing my friend's baby isn't due for 3 weeks--I'm gonna have to hurry to get her sweater finished after this.
