The dress is my bane. I've actually started another one in case this one can't be fixed, but I forgot to take a picture. There have been other activities this week distracting me.
The bodice of the dress was too big. Waaaaaay too big. My gauge was right, but not for Miss B. Here it is, beautifully finished (before the scissors came out). My sister even tried to help its gaping hugeness by crocheting around the neckline, but it was not enough.
I ended up attempting to unravel and reknit where I had a yarn join, and that kind of worked. It took me over 2 hours. I ended up having to thread the skirt onto needles (learned something new!) and then I cut the stubborn part. I had to waste yarn, which I did not want to do, because I was (am) hoping to splice in a smaller, different bodice. It's a tank-style, and I'm not using ribbing, so it should require less yarn.
Unfortunately, in my attempts to go smaller, I overcompensated. I put the bodice on 4s (instead of 6s) and I decreased the heck out of it. It would have fit--tightly, though--and I worried that Miss B would complain, so out came those five inches. Sigh.
Today, it's on 6s, I'm happily working, and if I have any breaks from shop-vac'ing, I'll finish it in a few hours.
Be sure to stop by Amy's to see what others are working on!
