Yesterday I cast off Doodle's sweater. Up until that time, I had high hopes: I love the ribbing. I love the yarn.
Alas. I don't like the finished product.
It fits. It looks okay. I can still do a few things to get it to relax. I think I may wash it and block it. Of course, I still have to weave in 7, 000 ends. But the v-neck looks too high to me. I think it should have been further down. We'll see what I can do. I'll post pics after I've finished finishing and tinkering.
In other knitting news, I'm steadily making progress on B's dress. I love lace knitting--every row is different, and there are discrete chunks to work on. I can do 12 sts at a time, and if there's a dire emergency, as there often is, I can be there in 7 sts (or whatever). I'm liking the color more and more as I go.
In more knitting news, I'm eager to get moving on this baby sweater I'm planning for my friend. It's Baby Five, and I guess that's not exciting to most people. I'm thrilled for her, because any baby is a wonderful gift.
Trouble with the sweater is that I was dumb when I picked yarn. She doesn't find out the gender of the baby, so I picked a lovely neutral-colored worsted yarn (it's called "Cork"). But it's 100% wool, and not superwash. What was I thinking? I also did not buy enough, and having bought it on sale, I doubt I could get more in the same dye lot. Dumb-dumb.
I'm thinking of making a run to my LYS for some Encore Worsted. There are some great choices in the colorspun line. I may move to a more green color, though I still think a soft neutral is a good idea. We'll see what's there!
