This week's pretzels are so much better, and they were so much easier to make. This coming from the lady whose arm strength is supplied by a trusty Zo . . . I love my breadmaker workhorse. The dough rolled out so nicely, unlike last week's. I fought the dough last week and couldn't stretch it--I could barely twist it into the correct shape! This week, it was like working with, uh, dough that works the way it should!
Even my little helper, Beatle, was able to join in. She loves to help, and though I couldn't quite get her to do the cross-and-twist part, she had fun rolling. Just like pat-a-cake!

Here they are, ready to go in the oven. I love them because they're all a little different, and each kind appeals to the different souls in the house. Doodle wants the biggest one; Beatle wants the skinniest one. DH took two--that's a good sign!
I made honey wheat dough (honey was improvised since the sugar canister is empty!). Half I embellished with coarse salt--perfect for mustard.
The other half were cinnamon-sugar (for my sweet tooth). They were just perfect--enough sweetness to highlight the honey in the dough.
We had our simple Lenten lunch with a decade of the chaplet of Divine Mercy, soon most of us will be napping.
Happy 2nd Friday of Lent!
