Then there's the sweater I'm knitting for a friend's baby. She's due in about 3 weeks, but she usually is late (this is Baby 5). I had everything lined up and then realized I had picked a non-washable (but very pretty) wool yarn. I exchanged it for some more sensible Encore Worsted, and we're off. I do have to finish B's dress for Easter, so this sweater is not a priority now. Still, it's on the needles and in my mind.
Finally, the secret little project that I'm hoping to pull off. What's knitting without a little pressure to go along? I wasn't happy with Doodle's sweater--the one I meant for him to have at Easter, and so I decided to try some socks. I've never done socks before, and I know they're shrouded in Knitting Mystery, so what the hey.
I've got some washable fingering--a nice self-striping skein--and a simple stockinette pattern. I think they're even called "Most Basic Sock Pattern". Sounds right for my skill level and time constraints! I've knit slippers before, and those cover feet and are similar to this pattern. I think I can do it. For Easter, I hope!
It's just barely clinging to the dpns--I only had awful aluminum things that feel like they're 3 feet long, but when you gotta do something, you gotta make do with what you have. I am now pining for one of those nifty sets, because if this sock project turns out, I'll never lack a gift idea again. I like my dpns wooden so the yarn hangs on . . . if there are any husbands reading, Mother's Day is coming up!
Check out what others are working on!
