I've been basking in vacation time. Hubby and my older boy had this week off from school, and with the weather so mild and warm, it's been like summer here. We took off from school, too, and that's just made everything a little more relaxed--a little less hectic. It's been a very nice break.
I have to admit that many times in the past I get a little territorial about all these people in the house messing up my routines and getting in my way. There's a lot to be done, and if it doesn't get done at certain times, then there's the baby's nap or dinner to prepare or piano lessons, etc. If the wash isn't done in the morning, it can't be hung on the line in enough time to dry. Some people in the household don't operate according to this schedule, and so it has been a point of contention in the past. Not this week.
I'm not sure what was different, but somehow we all managed to get along. The laundry got done, and so did all the regular chores. Hubby got most of his short to-do list knocked out, and so did Foo Foo. I even found a little extra time to work on some neat projects, and together, hubby and I handled some nagging business.
Today we took the kids to an amusement park. It was our one tax-return splurge--season passes. It really was a deal, and since we don't have to buy tickets yet for two of ours, it wasn't a huge stretch. Today was perfect. No stresses--very peaceful, and lots of fun for them. The weatherman called for showers today, but I had a sense that it would just be cloudy and grey. It was! Most everyone bet on showers, I guess, because the park was empty and we had our choice of rides.
Four hours later, we're driving home (it's a short 45 minutes from our house) with zonked-out chickens flumped over in their carseats. We'll order pizza from our favorite place (that keeps running great specials), and for under $20 we'll feed the whole clan plus one. It's been a good week, and I'm looking forward to more of these in a month or so!
Well, I am glad that we did not mess up your routines too much... ;)
ReplyDeleteI had an excellent time being home, as well.
I love you, hon.
