Strange urgency

I'm laughing at myself this morning, because I feel a need to complete all the knitting projects I have planned for New Baby before I find out whether he's a boy or a girl.  Tomorrow is the ultrasound--totally looking forward to it.

If he's a boy, I wonder if I will still want to complete the gown, romper and outfit set I have in the works. The gown is striped orange and white (and I don't know if I love it).  I do like the wrap-style top, though I wonder if it will work as good in practice as I think it will in theory.

The outfit is a cute green/yellow variegation (little diaper cover pants to follow)

. . . the second thing I've knit recently in variegated yarn, which I normally hate.

These particular mittens I love almost enough not to give them to the person I intended to give them to.  That's saying a lot, because I never knit for myself and I really don't like variegated yarn--did I say that?

I haven't started the romper yet (so fat chance on getting it done before tomorrow at 2 pm), but I've got this yarn and matching buttons--love them--

how could I not?  The yarn is 100% cotton, but it's not the usual rough-feeling, inflexible stuff I've tried to knit with before.  I can't wait to knit this one just because I know the fabric will feel fantastic.

As I was poking through the knitting basket and stash, I found the collection of yarns I've picked out Just In Case.

Even my knitting instincts tell me I'm carrying a boy (and this assortment made me smile).
