O God, Come to my Assistance!

O Lord, make haste to help me!

After yesterday, with the exhausting dr. appt, and the day before, with the minor basement flood and the news that we've got another 2 grand to sink into the house, I was hoping today would go smoothly. Make some breakfasts and lunches; knit a little; get to work; prepare for school; get the baby down for a nap . . .

No. That was not to be. Evelyn's in a clingy mood, complete with screeching. I fill the ink cartridges, but the printer refuses to "read" them. Of course. Only when I pay $60 a refill will the printer accept new ink. So no copying schoolwork to preserve the books for siblings.

Then the computer won't boot up. Just a blank white screen. I waited. I re-booted. I unplugged stuff and rebooted. I did not curse and re-boot, though perhaps that with a swift BANG might've moved it along. I call Apple, and they have nothing. Can I bring it to Farmington in 2 hours? Well, I could, but there's work that's due and I'm still in pajamas. I make the appointment and then hang up.

I try one more time, and lo, I was not holding the eject button down long enough. A disc comes out, and all is well. Apparently the machine is going nutty in its old age. Sigh. I can smell another expense around the corner.

Some people dream of ways to escape the doldrums--the boring routine of their lives. I'm just wishing my day would return to routine!
