Craft Basket Wednesday
I've got a couple of things in the works, none of them nearly as awesome as my most recent sewing project. Yeah, I know--it's all self-referential and proud, but that was a lot of fun to do and it came out so well.
First up is the sweater I'm knitting for a friend's baby. This is the very sweater that has recently been described with ugly adjectives, including one that begins with the /f/ sound (This is how my children refer to my cursing, and I am deeply ashamed. I'm working on it). I'm using a Loop Pattern from Harmony's Knit & Purl, and I just love it. It's got a scooshy, nubby, dense texture, and I know it'll be warm come wintertime. It's also a top-down sweater, and you can barely see the raglan increases. No holes! It's neat!
At the moment, I'm waiting for my sister's expertise. I managed to flub the buttonholes, which are in the seed st border. I tried fixing it, and I kind of did, but managed to reknit in ribbing instead of seed. While I wait, I'm knitting on the sleeves (which is why you can see dpns and a circ)--I love all the needles poking out everywhere. Especially while I'm knitting!
Next up is a little dress I'm putting together for Lulu. She needs some summer clothes, and since she's in the middle of potty-training, I love those little Carter's dresses. In an enlightened moment, I thought, "Why not use some of my stash instead of spending money on something new?" I do have washable yarns that would work nicely, including this very pink Cottontots. Voila! A little henley dress about halfway through. The plan is to add a little lace design at the bottom (courtesy of another Harmony guide)--little flowers or butterflies or some such.
I do wish I had this third guide, but I have dropped some heavy hints about the upcoming secular card-giving opportunity from which I benefit. Ahem. Are you reading this, honey?
Drop by Amy's and see what she's working on, too.
